[Abstract]

Colorectal cancer is the most familiar disease in clinic, whose occurrence and development has close relationship with environment, heredity, life style etc. In recent years, incidence of colorectal cancer has the trend of increasing. It is reported that the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer rank No.2 internationally and No.4 in our country. Thus it has brought about wide attention from clinical workers.Early colorectal cancer has no differential symptoms. Patients commonly have some change functions of digesting like few hemafecia, constipation, diarrhea etc, which could not draw patients? attention. Only after aggravation of hemafecia?obstruction of alimentary tract or acute decrease of weight did the patients hospitalize. Owing to the influence of clinical workers? experience and patients? fear of the traditional examining methods, the rate of misdiagnosis and missed-diagnosis is high. Early colorectal cancer has high resecting rate if timely diagnosed. Patients will have high five-year surviving rate after operation. So development of sensitive and safe diagnosing system for early colorectal cancer has high clinical value.Laser-induced autofluorescence diagnosing instrument for early colorectal cancer was devised for the above purpose. Our center has made great achievements after we received this project. On the basis research of related mechanism about autofluorescence and pathological changes occurred in patients with cancer, ?Second generation laser-induced autofluorescence diagnosing instrument for early colorectal cancer? was successfully developed in 2004.In my tests, I had firstly done some work to get the standard spectrum of protoporphyrin IX and to analyse its change in cancer tissue and patients? blood to get the relationship between protoporphyrin IX and cancer occurrence, resulting that protoporphyrin DC can be used as one kind of the standards for early cancer diagnosis; then I did the clinical work to appraise specificity and sensitivity of our instrument. At last, I have used digital image process software ?Peakfit? to deal with the resultant spectrum to achieve the quantitive disposal of autofluorescence speatra combining research of standard spectrum of protoporphyrin IX, to offer primary research for later construction of database and the achievement of intellectualized diagnosis.
